An evening with SPYs
You might be wondering what is SPYs and some of you might even correct my spelling. I can hear Mark and Manda saying 'Freddie, it's SPIES...if its plural..not SPYs'...haha...But yes... SPYs stands for St Philip's Youth...s....ok..maybe without the S...my bad....anyway, On the 23rd of January(I know this post is so over due) the SPY had a so called 'reunion' where all the old SPY and the new SPY get together and just have the entire day of fun, laughter and enjoyment. So here's how it went...
Jill, Lilian and I boarded the train back from KL to Segamat. Din know that Sheryl was also on the same coach as us. So after not meeting each other for SO long(Lilian I think 6-9 months, Jill 2-3 yrs) we decided to just find empty seats on the train and just talk. Little did we know, we talked for 3 hours OK!! That's the whole journey from KL to Segamat..my goodness!! So many things to talk. Anyway, we reached Segamat at about 11plus, Jill and I went lunch with my mom, then met Jessica's family at the restaurant..chit chat with them a while...Here's something you all must know..In Segamat, I'm famous for driving an old volve that you can definitely hear from 200m away. With the unforgettable number '200', people, especially the elder ones address me as '200' or in hokkien 'neng pak ho'. So yea, Jessica's grandparents address me as that. They don't know my name, until Jess's dad say 'Ji ge si neng pak ho la' which means 'This is 200'..then they were like 'Oh...so different already'...bla bla bla...
Anyway, we went to church at about 1.30, where we started off with some games...

Sherene, me, Jill and Lilian...yeah...we're the ONLY ones that made it back...expecting like at least 10 seniors to come la..mana tau...but it was nice la....
Who can forget this game...haha...I think many would know what game is this...Shhh...
That's us after mass before the slide show presentation!! Then after that we headed to the back of the church for our BBQ session...mind you, the Sultan of Johor pass away that day itself and we had to so called 'party' down...but what the hell, we on the music and just had fun!! haha...After the game session, we had praise and worship, then the youth had to go for catechism. So we went back and get ready for mass, which will be animated by the youth!! So mass went on well, all the youth sat at the choir...1st time you'll get to see so many youth there...After mass, they prepared a simple slide show of the old youth and the new ones...something like remembering the pass...all our old pictures, our activities, our joys, sadness, etc etc...Jill teared!!hahaha....
Preparation!!
and VOILA!! btw, the chicken is GREAT! You all should try it. It's from GIANT...well, you just tell them that you want to do BBQ and ask them to marinate the chicken for you.

After eating, we clean up and headed to the hall for some game session..oh oh...BTW, i so called jacked a priest with one of my stupidest and lamest joke ever!! I swear I never gonna see that priest again...What happened was, we were all eating, and the priest came and join us, chit chat with us. Then he asked 'So later you all are playing games right?'.Then some of them answered yes...Then I somehow HUMILIATED myself by saying 'Father, since you're still young and NOT MARRIED, join us la!!' =.=" me and my sarcasm.. GUESS WHAT!! The priest did not give me any reaction, and he just turn away. I wanted to jus slap myself and jus run away...WTH DID I JUST SAID!! I thought no one heard what I said...of all person..LILIAN HAD to be there la...sigh...damn shy ok!!
ANYWAY...we went and play charades... hehe...of coz charades champion is..ahem..here...so yea..we won!!hahaha. The other team gv us a very very long movie title...10 words ok!!!so Sherene had to act it out...then she wanted to act out the 9th word...so she started acting...extending the hand to the front and pushing it out..something like opening the door...then she walk through it...We were like..huh? and she kept doing that for the next few seconds...then someone said wardrobe...then she started jumping...then someone said lion...then I know...but I cant figure out the whole thing..so I said 'Chronicles of Narnia, the Lion, the witch and the Wardrobe!' and with that, we won!!Thinking back, SHERENE, the 9th word is 'THE' not wardrobe! =.="
Anyway, it was a nice gathering...We had fun! All the best to the current SPY!!
See you all during CNY break!!

A Day of recognition
Well, yesterday, we had a surprise lunch, where the bosses and company treated us to a dine in lunch, saying that there's a surprise and also some important announcement to be made. So we all were anticipating what was going to happen la...then lunch time came, the big boss from downstairs came up.. seriously all of us were thinking what the hell is the announcement all about since it involves the higher superior...and so it goes...
The company came out with a book to celebrate personal leadership, Leaders without Title, inspired by the book You don't need a title to Be a Leader by Mark Sanborn. Hence, out of 300+ consultants world wide, 41 was nominated, and only 25 were chosen to be in this book, and PFM has 5 consultants chosen. So the luncheon was to celebrate the consultants' achievements in leading without a title...And to my surprise, I WAS ONE OF IT!! So here's a write up of me by my superior...
A story about Freddie of PFM...
Freddie is our youngest consultant and has been withus for the last one and a half years. Over the last two quarters, he did well and closed 11 cases. I can see that his career in our organization is beginning to take shape, compared to the first nine months when he was still trying to find his footing.
As Christmas drew near, Freddie too the initiative and informed the leaders that he would like to put up and decorate a Christmas tree with colorful ornaments to brighten up the office. The leaders told him to go ahead with it using whatever we have. But he had other things in mind.
He knew we were all pushing hard for the numbers and everyone is under heavy workload. He wanted to surprise us and on his own, made arrangement for a 7-feet tree instead of using what we had. As it was supposed to be a surprise, he did not seek internal help and managed to influence his friend(who is not working in our organization-Credits to Ashley Wong) to help him with the decor preparations. He even bore the extra cost of buying some new decor items. He and his friend came one Saturday to decorate not just one, but two Christmas tree! (One was a four-feet tree at the main entrance and the other was a seven-feet tree at the work area). He wanted to create a 'wow' effect when all of us walked into the office the following Monday. He sure did! The beautiful decorated trees -they even looked better than some of those that we see at the shopping malls- a bit exaggerating la..but its nice... These were such showpieces that it took our breath away for a few seconds and made us smile each time we looked at it. It was definitely a good way to enlighten us in a positive manner.
Concurrently, we were also preparing for a Relationship-Building-Activity ("RBA") event - a movie night for some of our clients. As we were working on the movie selection, food and beverage, and the invitation list, Freddie again came to the leaders and shared that we could also spruce up the venue. He suggested that the foyer, where the event was to be held, can be livened up with some floral arrangements. He knew that using an external vendor for the floral arrangement will affect the budget; he said he would take care of it and that we need not worry about over-spending. He identified a few colleagues and formed a team to help out. He arranged for venue for venue inspection and shared with the team on his ideas and what needed to be done. On the day of the event, the team arranged for the purchase of flowers from a wholesaler in the early hours of the morning(before our working hours) and did all the floral arrangements over lunch time. During the event, he also gave his input on where the buntings should be placed to give maximum mileage in the promotion of our company's brand name. he did this with passion and made the movie treat a night to remember for our clients who came.
I believe Freddie demonstrated commendable leadership qualities although he did not have a leader's title. He created a positive difference using his influencing abilities.
Am very grateful for the written piece by my superior...sigh...Anyway, that's all...Looking forward for a long CNY break!!

So she din get the chance to meet them... So now both of us emo...hahaha...
But it's great to meet random ppl on facebook, and then U'll never know, they might be good friends!! Right Nicol and Sahira!! ok..maybe we're not that close yet la..but HEY!! At least we have sth in common right now!! We love the BUBS!!!
