Mamma Mia and the wedding singers..hehe

Hey ya'll. This is a continuation of my last post, which is an introduction to PFM. Well, as you have read it, after my company's activity, I had to rush home for practice with the 'wedding singers', mainly Mark, Flora, Amanda, Melissa, Sherie, Sandy and Elena at Manda's place. We were to perform 2 songs for Melvyn and Mellissa's wedding, which was 'The Prayer'- Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion, and also 'When you tell me that you love me'-Diana Ross and Westlife(Charlene's favourite song). We manage to start prac at 10.00pm, as i arrive late..Plus not to mentioned, i was sick, coughing like hell..don think i can even pull of the song the next day..Elena also coughing and I was like...'Hey, you're sick too? Me too!!'..( I don't know why I sounded so happy, but ya)..

So after practising, we left Manda's place for our regular movie outing, and this time, we watched MAMMA MIA..the movie we've all been waiting for. So, Mark, Manda, Flora, Sher, Lis and me met up with Keith, Allison, Ashley and Reuben at Jusco Cheras Selatan to catch our movie. It was a fantastic movie, where you can laugh and sing-a-long with it..UNFORTUNATELY..due to my cough(stupid sickness...come at the wrong timing) I wasn't able to sing-a-long with it, as i began to cough, even before the songs starts...sheesh..who wants to watch it again let me know... I don't mind watching it second time.

The movie was a great show, filled with Abba classics like Mamma Mia, Super Trooper, Dancing Queen, I had a dream, The winner takes it all and much more. Meryl Streep is A fantastic actress. From such a sophisticated, high class devil, to a humble, crazy, (can i say cheap?) yet fun mommy,..She's one hell of an actress...Good Job! Good Job! Clap! Clap!...THose who have not seen this movie, I advice you to go watch it now..Bring the whole family along and sing and dance...You can dance, You can jive, having the time of your life...Wohoo.See that girl, watch that scene, diggin the dancing queen...haha...

Well, the movie ended around 2. Then we all headed home to have a good rest because, 27th September is the wedding day of Melvyn and Mellissa...Melvyn is the son of a very very good, humble, passionate and kind couple, Uncle Francis and Aunty Alice. (The people in the picture below are Mary, Uncle Francis, Aunty Alice and Melvyn)

The wedding was i think by far the most attended one ever. Mass as usual was beautiful, especially during the exchange of vows, where both M&M shed tears while reciting their vows, causing witnesses like Aunty Pat, Flora and Manda to shed some tears also...hehe...After mass, lunch was provided and the food was good. The whole bunch of us were sitting in front of the foyer, when suddenly out of the sudden, we heard shouts and screams...We thought what the hell happen..mana tau, Melvyn and his groomsman were performing the Haka dance, a traditional Maori war dance, performs by a group, where it incorporates shouts, proclaiming their strength and prowess in order to intimidate the opposition...OPPOSITION??Its a wedding...right?Nah..it is also performed in formal functions for 'distinguish' guest, serving to impart a sense of importance of the occasion...Hmm...interesting...

Anyway, after the luncheon, we headed off to Mark's place for some last minute practice. The nerves are kicking in, and you can see the nervousness on each other's face. Haha... This is us practising..But I have to say, it was fun performing with them...

After the practice, we left for Manda's house to rest. Took my cough syrup, hoping to make me sleep, din help. Toss and turn on the bed, while the rain continues to shower outside...Greg came in the room, lied on the bed, then suddenly....BANG!!..whole house no electricity...and the best thing is, Lis and Manda still can sleep...sheesh...So we have to proceed to Flora's house to get ready for the dinner. Left Sg long and headed to Marriott around 5 plus, went there for sound check. As usual, sound check din go so well...hence more nervous... Us before the dinner...Lis, Flora, Manda, Sher, Mark and me... The girls at our table.. Sher, Manda, Lis, Flora, Sandy, El and AnnThe boys at our table..Mark, Alex, Me and Reu(lebih gonggai...damn blur la tat fella..say look else where, he go look at the camera...sheesh)The above 2 pictures are the Haka dance, led by Melvyn along with 20 other uncles at the wedding reception.

Ok ok...before the Haka dance performance, speeches were made by Uncle Francis and Aunty Alice, and also a representative of Mellissa, whom i forgot the name. After that the couple went up to cut their cake and perform the 'toast'. Then after that it was our performance, our 1st song, The Prayer... Damn nervous ok performing in front of almost 1000 people, plus some last minute changes between the musicians, sigh...BUT...It turns out to be the best performance ever..haha...The crowds gone wild, cheering, clapping, whistling, jumping..ok..i exaggerate it a little..but they loved it..although while we were on the stage, we were like...shivering with butterflies in our stomachs..actually, it was more like them la..i was like normal only..looking up to the ceiling, looking at the bridal couple, looking at the people, looking everywhere...But anyway, it was a wonderful experience..

Not long after, we were called once again to sing the 2nd song, When you tell me that you love me. So again we went up, but slightly too early..coz the bride and groom went missing...so we decided to hide behind the curtains..hehe..and Jude have to say 'Freddie and the gang had to go toilet break'..So while Edward(resident performer) and Jude were belting out songs, they invited us to accompany them...we stood up there like idiots, with files, dunno what song we're singing..haha..tat was more embarassing. After 2 songs, we decided to just sing our song..But, how lucky we were when the bridal couple walked in from the side door, just in time for us to sing.

So, after belting out 'When you tell me that you love me', we went back to our seats...AND NOW ONLY THE GIRLS decided to loosen up their hair and just have fun..kinda late right? I mean Reuben, Mark and me were like having fun since the beginning of the reception already. Haha...If you had watched Mamma Mia, you might remember Meryl Streep's character, Donna, and her fellow sidekicks, they call themselves, 'Donna and the Dynamos', well, Reuben decided to form a group with Mark and me... Hence, he came up with the name, Freddie and the fabulous...(ok, why does the name sound so gay?).. Anyway, with inspiration from Mamma Mia, I transform our name to 'Freddie and the FABULOSOs'..

Donna and the Dynamos...

Freddie and the Fabulosos!!

Haha...That was fun..serious...We started dancing like Abba, singing dancing queen, super trooper...Then after that, they open the dance floor..but no one went to dance...HOWEVER, a few uncles, who looks like they were drunk, but they're not...and they were belting out songs from the 60s and 70s..so it was like Mambo Jumbo night..haha..So the whole jing bang, as in our whole table went to the dance floor and just dance our heart out. It was superb la..fun...and enjoying...Songs played included Labamba, Twist and Shout, Twist, and many more..not bad la..and the whole jing bang did the butt shake thingy like how Cameron Diaz did in Charlie's Angels. Then syok syok dancing, suddenly they sang happy birthday..to me...hahaha...then Amelia came with a whole basket of flower petals and started throwing it towards me...Mark decided to just pour the whole basket of flower petals on me..sheesh..pic below shows us at the dance floor...

After all of that, everyone started to hug me and wish me Happy Birthday, and before we left, we took pictures with the bridal couple.

This pic was taken after dropping flora off. We decided to cam-whore in my car. Haha...Well, that was the end of 27th Sept 08. Wonderful wedding celebration, wonderful singing, wonderful friendship, wonderful fellowship. Here's the recording of our songs.

Introduction to PFM

Hey ya'll..am back once again. This time, to update you on the company that I'm currently attached to...Peoplefirst Consulting. Its an international executive search firm, and its by far..the best place I've ever worked in...not to say i have tat much of a working experience, but then it is fun to work there. The people there are so friendly, nice, funny, energetic, full of surprises etc etc...love the place.

Our morning exercise...Qi Gong..This move is called 'beating ourselves'..

Well, basically, to tell you all what happened on Friday, it was FINALLY our renovation day..coz it has been postponed for few weeks already. So because of the renovation day, all of us are allowed to wear casual on that day...what a relief and so much freedom. Haha...It was a normal working day as usual, in the morning we start of with our morning exercise(Qi Gong) and work as usual until afternoon where we have to pack up our stuff and bring it all to the conference room and interview room...hence, all the rooms were packed with our computers, cpu, cupboards, boxes,plants..(ya..plants!!).
This is our conference room...before the havoc...

This is after..only manage to take this pics..coz was busy packing up stuff...

This is my desk..before the clear up...This is during the clear up of the entire office...

And this is after the clear up..thats my bag on my desk..well, now my ex-desk. Am not sitting there anymore..move to the one opposite..which is on the right side of the pic...

Hence after clearing up everything, it was about 5.00pm, we all left the office to Robson's Height, which is situated in Seputeh, for our company's activity, which I can say no other company has such an outing like ours..haha...I was in the games committee, along with my partners in crime, Adrian, Gummy and Norah. Among the games we playde were..of coz some good old ones like the Alphabet Game and Musical Back(choir members should know this one), Mad Relay, Rubber band and straw, Taboo, Battle of the Sexes(which i did not participate coz i had to go back early..(that is another story..hehe..next blog).

So, while waiting for the arrival of other collegue and also the food and also to wait for the buka puasa time, we entertain ourselves with taboo. Our team rocks..more like Sarah rocks..the other team, props goes to Jean coz she played well too...

Us playing Taboo...Sandra, Gummy(covered by San) Hayden, Sarah, Jean, Charlene, Mich and Yip Wei..
That's them trying to form a word...
KITES...Anna, Jean, Mich, Yip Wei and..Daniel holding an S..At the beginning of the game, he shouted 'Anybody want's my 'S' come and get it!'haha..Shock to hear it esp from someone like him...

Below are some of the pictures taken during the games...

That's Shawnie ( my boss), Norah, Melanie and SannyClement, Jared, Daniel and LizaJay, Sherine, Anna and Yip Wei...

Liza, Charlene, Sandra, Darren and Lawrence...This is Mad Relay. Its like a relay, the 1st person will run to the chair and take out a piece of paper that has instruction or actions in it that the person itself must perform. So the person will read it out loud, and perform it. Here, You'll see Gummy writing her name using her hips..haha...Sandra and Lawrence reading out their actions...This 2 pics above is the cotton ball game. This is the rubber band and straw... And the pic below is Hayden Leong aka Ah Pak, doing his dance as a punishment...After all the games are played, we still have time for the 'newbies' to show to the rest of the company their vision board. I didn't had the chance to take pi[cture of my vision board, but anyway, the pics above is Norah, presenting her vision board. If you see closely, there's a figure of a lady running..and if you see closer, it has her(as in Norah) photo there...So all of us are suppose to share our vision with the entire company, and her's has to be the funniest..to have that type of body..haha...such a cool collegue i have huh...

After the vision board presentation was time to makan. Food was delish...and after the makan-makan session..(of coz during the course of it, there were talks bout...how shall i put it..'slightly distruptive' conversation that involves 'what happens aft tonight..if you know what i mean..haha..)Then they brought out the cake to celebrate the September babies birthday, mainly, Melanie, Norah and yours truly...Thanks guys for such a wonderful company and fellowship. After cutting the cake, I left for practice for the next day's wedding, which i will blog when i have the time... This is 1 of our interview room, we call it the green room..hm..wonder why??? Nah..we were clearing up the office and I was helping with the plants, so i decided to put the plants into the green room to create the green house effect..hahaha..This is the COM team. That's Chris (making the funny face..according to Gummy, that IS Chris's face..) Sarah, Sandra, Melanie, Gummy and Jean. This is HIACE team, Liza, Jay, Sherine and Darren.

This is my buddy, Cat...
Thanks for reading then..the next post will be about Mamma Mia and Melvyn & Mellissa's wedding...Stay tune

Well, kinda cool to have a blog...hehe..anyway...few weeks ago, AMANDA QUAH tag me (even though tat time i do not have a blog..asking me to get one)and FLORA OH also...saying its the 'blogging trend'(i don see kenny sia doing it). So anyway..here goes.

1. My favourite animals are elephants and i would like to own a few someday and ask my children to ride it to school everyday.
2. When i was standard 1, i was enroled in a chinese school for 1 week..yes..1 week only. Not that I'm not able to catch up, but coz my cousin couldn't. So he move, i have to move.
3. I do not like it when i go shopping and the sales lady speak to me in BM. I get very annoyed and would jus walk out from the shop without buying anything...sigh..even though i want to but something..coz the clothes damn nice ok...
4. My dream would be to own a house with a lot of rooms, 1 each for my children, 1 for me and my wife, and another bigger 1...i call it my 'concept store' aka walk in closet.
5. Would love to travel around the world and watch all those famous musical like Hairspray, The Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia, Rent, Avenue Q, etc etc...(i've watch Beauty and the Beast already)
6. I cant sleep straight. As in lie on my back and sleep. I need to turn over to the side and sleep. Friends call me 'the silent prawn' when i sleep.
7. I just love to laugh. I can even laugh at a funeral. Believe me...
8. I love going for movies, especially with my choir gang. Its fun and exciting.
9. I love to sing, i love choir, I don't mind training a school team and push them to the limit so that they can go and win something.
10. I love to go to MPO and watch how the orchestra play, esp the percussion unit, coz there's only like 4 people, and they have to play so many instruments, so they have to walk silently...
11. I get excited very fast. Very VERY fast. for eg, keith and allison's wedding, I couldn't even sleep even 2 days before their wedding. Hence, the pimples...
12. Don't be shock, but I've rear rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, puppies that grew up to be dogs, kittens that grew up to be cats, wild boars(yes...2..sat on it also), chickens, ducks, geese, civet cat...what else?I think tats it...

Here I Am, 1 year later

Hey, as you can see, almost exactly a year ago, i started this blog, with a different purpose, which is for my thesis/final year project. However, it din seem to be much used, so thats y I left this blog unused. But now, since i'm jus browsing through, was looking back at my blog, so i decided to post something on it.

Many things have happened within a year. MANY...memorable ones, sad wans, happy moments, enjoyable events...everything under the sun...all these happenings, they do change us, change our life and change the person who we are right now. Hence, this is not all that has happened for the past 1 year, but I'll shaer the best moments. Hope I can remember...Hmm..Lets see...

I officially took up the position as HFC choir leader, which I'm happy to say that i love my choir so much, even though there are ups and downs, but gone through that with the support of my lovable, dedicated, talented and most of all, the best choir ever. We're so good, ppl even complain..i mean COMPLAIN that we're so good. Its no more praising, but complaints coz I QUOTE 'we couldn't concentrate in prayer coz the music and the singing were too nice'. Been through a lot with my choir members. As usual, X'mas we went to Mandarin Oriental, and at last we manage to organize our retreat..which to me was a blast, where every1 get along with each other, tears were shed, shoes were wet, frogs were thrown, bathing without water, havin 8 eggs at a go, laughing out loudly, gossiping(we couldn't leave that out), sharing, singing, playing...It was memorable. Singing for one of our choir members wedding was a joy esp to me, coz we were actually singing for someone whom was choir members and under my direction. Keith and Allison's wedding was a memorable one and those who attended the wedding mass thought that it was like a MUSICAL. Its great to hear good things related to the choir, esp when its under your direction, and it does gives you the motivation to cont doin your best to bring the choir towards ever greater heights.

Well, On August 23rd was FINALLY my graduation. after struggling for 3 years studying accounting, i got my graduation certificate on that day. Somehow, it was a very joyous and memorable occasion for me, coz i never knew i was expecting it to be so grand. I myself was like..ok, its my graduation, so what...But that all change 1 week prior to the convo date, me thinking of meeting with my friends again, thinking of walking up on stage to collect the scroll, name being announced..( i know a few of you might b thinking right now..yah..tis is freddie..he loves the lime light...)seriously, i was excited bout all those stuff. Not because i love the lime light(WHICH I DON'T) but because of the fact that I've studied for 3 years and i only get to graduate once, which i plan to keep it that way coz i do not plan to further studies. However, throughout the 3 years of studying in UTAR sg long campus, i've never loose anything, but i gain a lot of experience, wisdom, maturity and more importantly, i gain more friends and the real meaning of life. I notice that everything happens for a reason. Accounting course wasn't my 1st choice. However, my dad insisted on putting that as my 1st choice, and thats how i ended up in Sg long. But come to think of it, if i never were to put accounting as my 1st choice, i wouldn't have met so many wonderful people in my university like chen, germs, quah, ang, miss fits etc etc. If i did not put accounting as my 1st choice, i wouldn't have met so many wonderful HFC members, i wouldn't have joined the best choir, i wouldn't have known the people i known now...manda, flora, sher, reu, mark, shaun, el, sandy, ann, ash etc etc..So, that's y i said, everything in life, happens for a reason. You might not know it now, but you will know it in the future..real life example. I would cherish the friendship I've made esp to my uni mates, whom i will seldom meet, my wonderful housemates(jacy, bfong, cyan, mchoo, lisan and chin lian) whom i'll miss disturbing(haha). Thank you all for the wonderful 3 years I've studied there.

Wonderful housemates..yah..all girls..I'm so lucky am I

Well, after graduating, I was jobless for 3 months. Din have the urge to go find a job. I mean i went job hunting and all, but then din have the mood to pursue it. Until the opportunity came for me to go for an interview with an audit firm. I thought the interview did not go so well, coz i clearly remember what my answers was. The conversation goes something like that.

Interviewer : So Freddie, do you have anyone in your family working as an accountant right now?

Freddie : Yes. My brother used to be an accountant before, but now he's working for a software company in Singapore as a software sales manager, which he says got something related to accounts

I : Oh, then how come you didn't go to Singapore to work? I mean the pay is double, you have your brother there...why?

F : Well, thats because I love Malaysia so much(knock head to the wall)

I : Haha..ok ok. Where do you see yourself in lets say 5 years or 10 years time?

F : Well, hopefully opening my own business, own concept store..i love fashion.

I : Oh..you don't plan to be an associate or a partner in an audit firm?

F : Er...Ya..that too (knock heads again)

Thinking that i would't get the job, i sat at home again, when suddenly, Norah, Kim's mom called and ask me to join her company, an international executive search firm as a consultant. Not knowing what to expect, i gave it a try. To my amazement, it was the best company i could ever hope, work for. The place is so colorful, vibrant, happy, friendly. Even the boss that interviews me, which is my boss right now...seriously speaking..i din even knw she's my boss ok..coz she doesn't act like one..our interview was fun. We were more to chit chatting and laughing, rather than the serious interview where your hands will sweat and all...(OH..forgot to mentioned that i went for the audit firm interview WITHOUT A TIE..sheesh). So not knowing whether the interview with the executive search firm goes well or not, once I got home, I immediately got a call for a second interview. This is with the HR manager. So went there again, and same thing happen. We were chit chatting, laughing...And the 3rd time they called, i was offered the job. BUT..the audit firm, that i thought i wouldn't get, also offered me a position as an auditor. Wow, the dillema i had. Not knowing which one to choose. To do something that has related to what I've studied for 3 years, or to go for something that suits me...obligations or passion. Shared my situation with Miss Fits, she said, 'Always go for something that you like, you will feel more motivated to perform, and you will feel happy about it at the end of the day'. Hence, with that in mind, I've chosen to work with the company which I'm in now, which is the international executive search firm, and am happy to say that i enjoyed every moment of it.

Seasons come and go, but friends are forever. Would like to take this opportunity to actually acknowledge some of my friends that have tremendous influence in my life.
